You have to install the appropriate drivers from the Acer Support Website, before it works. Certainly the only drivers I can find are for Windows, as from this site Īlso it would be wrong to think that the Media Card Reader is natively supported in Windows, it's not. I believe it's an issue of there not being appropriate drivers available, for Linux, for the ENE Technologies UB6250 USB Mass Storage Controller. I've had both 9.10 & 10.04 running on it and had no luck with the Media Card Reader. I've also got an Acer AspireONE 532h netbook. Hopefully, with 10.10, this problem will be resolved, but I'm not holding my breath.

I read somewhere else (forgive me for not bookmarking or sharing the link) that there's possibly a driver issue at work here, or something in the Kernel that's causing it to not function. This model is different than yours, with only one SD slot (on the right). I saw that as well, as well as an article that says to have a SD card in the slot when you install Ubuntu. I've tried three installs, both with a card in the slot and without.

The SD card reader worked fine in Win7 but has not worked with Ubuntu. It shipped with Win7, but I wiped it and installed Lucid on it after, oh, five minutes. I purchased a new Acer Aspire One (NAV50) a month or so ago.
